Music Therapy and Creative Arts Wellness at Sing, Explore, Create
Reintroducing Ourselves
If you’re wondering why we’ve been a bit quiet on updates lately, we decided to use January as a time to reflect and plan for the year ahead. Our goal for 2025 is to grow and expand our impact in the community, and we got a great start on that in 2024! We did the math and we not only served 2,000 individuals, but we also collaborated with 80 community partners throughout Southeastern, MA and helped over 150 students and private music therapy clients at our center.
So with that being said, we’d love to reintroduce ourselves and tell you a little about why SEC truly stands out in the music therapy community.
We here at SEC know that a business is only as as good as it’s leader, and we’re led by one of the most passionate music therapy experts in the field, Nicole Craven. Our fearless CEO & Founder has always known that music and arts are an essential part of the human experience, and not only for the talented or those who pursue arts-based careers. She believes music and art is essential to our wellbeing, and should be more accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and in all stages of life. That’s how we got started on our mission to make sure everyone can experience connecting with others through music and the arts and gain new tools to support their mental health!
In both her work as a music educator and music therapist, she has supported people of all ages and with many different diagnoses including (but not limited to) Autism, Alzheimer’s and dementia, depression, stroke, anxiety, developmental delays, cancer, as well as pre/postpartum women. She has also worked in many settings, spanning education and healthcare, including public/private schools, nursing/rehab facilities, early intervention, healthcare centers, and community-based programs.
Nicole’s biggest strengths as a leader in her company and community is her ability to think creatively and bring innovative approaches to the challenges in front of her. She has presented on music and the brain, social emotional learning, using music and the creative arts to create inclusive spaces, music and wellness to prevent burnout and manage stress for several local schools, community and state organizations, as well as the Museum of Science Boston.
Outside of her work at Sing Explore Create, she volunteers in the community and partners with many local organizations, such as Carepacks, Girls Scouts and End Hunger NE.
Curating each program and helping to further educate the music therapists that work here, any class you take with us is a reflection of her hard work and dedication to better mental health through art. Try one of our classes today and see for yourself!
