I am currently studying to become a music therapist, and feel very lucky to have been placed with the Sing Explore Create team for my practicum. I have always loved music. I have been creating and recording my own music since 2004. Through my work as a direct support professional for adults with disabilities, I realized that I wanted to use music to support people and to help them learn (or re-learn) skills.
I look forward to this opportunity to get to know some of the different populations that music therapy can serve. I am especially interested in how neurological music therapy can help people who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. I think the power music has to engage and inspire people is fascinating.
I am pursuing my Bachelor's of Music Therapy from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA. There, I study classical voice and am a member of the school's choir. I will be eligible to sit for the music therapy board certification exam in 2023. I am continuing to work as a direct support professional while I am in school.
